Becky Franks - Therapist

I’m a UKCP-registered integrative psychotherapist, counsellor, and life coach working in the Dalston end of Stoke Newington (N16). I support adults across North London and online.

My core training is grounded in humanistic and existential psychotherapy, and I also draw on psychodynamic thinking, CBT and CBT-I (for insomnia and sleep difficulties), neuroscience, Gestalt and mindfulness-based approaches. This integrative way of working allows therapy to be responsive rather than prescriptive — shaped around you as an individual, rather than a one-size-fits-all model.

My work is relational and collaborative. Therapy is something we do together, not something done to you. I value openness, curiosity, and shared responsibility in the process. At times this may involve challenge as well as kindness — particularly where familiar patterns are getting in the way of change. My intention is always to support reflection and growth, while maintaining a respectful, thoughtful, and compassionate therapeutic relationship.

Although people often come to therapy with similar concerns — such as anxiety, bereavement, anger, or feeling stuck — I don’t work from labels alone. Each person’s difficulties sit within a wider context of relationships, history, and nervous-system responses. These emerge gradually through the therapeutic process, and the focus of our work may evolve over time as understanding deepens.

I offer both short-term and open-ended therapy, depending on what feels most appropriate for your needs. Occasionally, it may become clear early on that a different approach or therapist would suit you better; if that’s the case, I’ll be open about it and can offer thoughtful recommendations.

I completed extensive postgraduate and advanced-diploma training and continue with ongoing professional development through seminars and conferences, keeping my work informed by current thinking and best practice. I’ve been working with clients in North London and Brighton for over 17 years.

I’m UKCP-accredited and work in line with the UK Council for Psychotherapy’s ethical framework.
